A special issue on the 40th edition of the awards aired on December 9, 2012 by MGM Portugal. == Ceremony == The nominees for the 40th International Emmy Awards were announced by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences on 8 October 2012, at a press conference in Mipcom, Cannes. In all, 38 finalists were selected from 15 countries who competed in the awards in 9 categories. Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Japan, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, South Korea, Spain and the UK were the finalists of the 40th International Emmy, who received 1,100 entries, analyzed by jurors of 67 countries. In celebration of the International Emmys 40th anniversary, the International Academy paid tribute to Alan Alda and Norman Lear with Special Founders Awards.
